Old Time Radio Thrills

By Lucius Shepard A soldier in Vietnam calls out to Delta Sly Honey, a presumably fictional ghost patrol, during a radio show. Everyone thinks it’s entertaining, until they answer. The soldier in question has been the special project of his sadistic top sergeant; when Delta Sly Honey responds to his call, and he rushes out to find them, everyone else assumes he went crazy and then AWOL. The top sergeant is killed by a soldier who claims to be with Delta Sly Honey, and the soldier returns. He’s changed during his time away; the reason why becomes apparent when the ghost patrol returns for him.
